The USCCN has established a formal relationship with the USDA National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation to provide backup or emergency storage for collections that are in danger of being lost.

If funds are available to prepare and ship specimens for preservation over liquid nitrogen, well cataloged strains may be shipped directly, after signing a material transfer agreement form.

If no funds are available, please contact a member of the USCCN steering committee. The US National Science Foundation has funds through the Collections in Support of Biological Research program for transfer and preservation of collections that are otherwise in danger.
